This was our first “outing” for the Lazy Tulip Cafe and what a great way to get some exposure. Ecofest Barrie provided the perfect place to get ourselves out there and talk with our main target market…..people who are conscious about the environment, the future and what they are putting into their bodies.
Despite the possible onset of rain on Saturday people still came out to check out the festival and the clouds kept the temperature tolerable. We had Eden and Buffy helping at the booth today. It didn’t take long to get ourselves organized and start pumping out Avocado wraps, Thai Tofu wraps, Crepes with Barrie Hill Farms Rhubarb, Grilled Cheeses with mozzarella, tomato & basil and Iced organic green tea with locally grown wild mint.
That evening Michelle & Matthew enjoyed the fabulous dinner put on by Unity Market. Four courses with live music by Neil Crowe of Eyeswide. Dinner was followed by Trashfusion which is a fashion show using trash!
Sunday was sunny all day and we were so happy that we had the location we did. The breeze coming off the lake was just perfect and the view wasn’t bad either! Today the grilled cheeses and Iced teas were a big hit!
By the end of the day Matthew was walking around the festival in bare feet because it made him more grounded….or was it the big piece of crystal hanging around his neck….or was it the Indian water dance he partook in or……is it part of the evolution?
We look forward to Ecofest Barrie 2013! We’ve already got some great ideas on how we can do it even better! We are hoping to keep the same spot but this time we’ll be adding some blankets so people can hang out “picnic style” and eat with a view of the lake. Thanks to the Unity Market crew for doing such a great job!
The Lazy Tulip Cafe is excited to be a part of Ecofest this year which will run June 9-10 at Heritage Park in Barrie. We will be providing Crepes with Barrie Hill Farms Rhubarb, Avocado wraps (sorry but we couldn’t find local avocadoes!), Thai Tofu wraps with some awesome tofu from Quebec, grilled cheese with Thornvue mozzarella with tomato/basil & iced organic green tea with local wild mint.
Look for our booth at E12 right on the water…..great view!
The core values of Ecofest are:
- Fostering respect for the earth and lightening our impact on it.
- Supporting our local economy, particularly businesses and farmers committed to sustainable practices.
- Encouraging participation from those outside the environmental sector – musicians, artists, chefs, farmers, health practitioners, businesses, youth and many more – to create a broader vision of sustainable living that includes social and economic balance as well as environmental health.
